TWO THOROUGHBREDS KILLED AT JUAREZ George Oxnard and Mike Donlin Lose Their Lives During Running of Opening Race El Paso Tex April 4 Two thoroughbreds lost heir lives as the result of a mishap that attended the running of todays openjng race at Juarez The sixyearolu horse George Oxnard belonging to Mrs M Estill while racing in a forward position in the stretch stumbled and fell He struck a fence post with such force as to break his neck and cause In ¬ stant death Mike Donllu another veteran carrying tlie colors of T Durkee fell and broke a leg in two places He was destroyed at once to relieve his misery Ceos another of the reqr division also went down but escaped injury Of the jockeys involved Braze was slightly bruised while Feeuey and Thomas escaped with a shaking up The upThe mile handicap that served as the particular feature of the program gave John Reunion the op ¬ portunity of winning anotiier purse for Roy Martin The old gelding came from behind to score an easy victory over Iteulah S which had been leading by a margin of several lengths during most of the run ¬ ning John Reardon was n well supK rted favorite Other first choices that scored during the afternoon were Xim and Seneca SenecaA A telegram was received from Secretary J 0 Talbott of the Colorado Fair and Racing Associa ¬ tion to the effect that the foot and mouth disease quarantine of Colorado does not apply to thorough ¬ breds and that other quarantine restrictions and tests have been lifted owing to the known healtli fulness of the horses that are coming from Juarez The stables of Yeoman Canda and B A Biilleii tine left for Denver yesterday J W Murphv and B T Miller will leave next Thursday with their strings stringsA A big crowd saw todays racing
