SOMETHING MORE ABOUT LENA MISHA That sentiment or even romance sometimes enters Into the purchasing of thoroughbreds is illustrated by a story told at Belmout Park of the manner in which Lena Misha the winner of the Juvenile Stakes on Saturday became a part of tho Bcver wyck Stable owned by Frank Nolan NolanLarry Larry Carey who is a great frieiid of Nolan was present at a trial for the Futurity some years ago iu which Gatien Belle the dam of Lena Misha ran a half mile in 47 This was sensational work and faster than any other candidate for the big race accomplished iu a trial but unfortunately Gatien Belle broke down and had no chance to show her speed in the race for the twoyearold crown Carey was so impressed with the startling pace that Gatien Belle travelled in this trial that he made up his mind to be in tho market when the produce of the mare was put on sale This hap ¬ pened at Saratoga last fall when the Blue Kidge yearlings of II T Oxuard were put under the hammer Gatien Belle had been bred to King James an untried sire and Larry Carey was laughed at when he purchased the colt for 900 The laugh was quickly turned for before the horse ¬ men left Saratoga tho colt which later was named Lena Misha ran the fastest trial of any yearling at the track New York Sun
