Fountain Fay Proves the Victor in the Race for the Earl Grey Cup— Bryndown Takes the Hendrie Memorial Steeplechase. Montreal. One., September 4. -A brilliant days racing was witnessed by a large gathering at Bine Bonnets this afternoon. It was a great assemblage that turned out. the clubhouse contingent being well represented by many prominent society folk. The Montreal Jockey Club presented a splendid program for the occasion, which included the Karl Grey Cup and the Hendrie Memorial Steeplechase. The former was a dash of a mile and a quarter, while the steeplechase called for a three-mile jonrnej through the field. Twelve hundred dollars was added to each race and the owners ..f tile winners were presented with a handsome piece of plate. The Thornclifle Stables pountain Pay won the Karl Grey Cup. coming from behind to beat the pacemakers, and Bryndown led throughout the steeplechase.
