Amazon Stays a Mile Gamely and Takes Another Race— Jockey Robinson Rides Two Winners-Successful Meeting Comes to a Close Today. Cincinnati. O., October 2 5. — The three-quarters handbaii. which was intended as the feature race Latouia today, resulted in an upset when Othello for the entire way and won over Ed Crump and Commonada, with the favorites. Luke and Bring-hurst, far back, both having been eased up in the last eighth, Luke because he was taken with a hemorrhage, and Bringhurst because his rider thought he had. The running was dominated by Otheilo for the entire way. Ed Crump suffered right at the start and was forced to race wide, but finished with great speed. As a contest the race furnished little to enthuse over. T.ie mile allowance race that followed it brought about a close finish with Amazon winning by a bead over Christie and McAdoo. The winner surprised the talent by leading for the entire way. Silver Bill furnished an incident in the race by being caught in a jam on the first turn and throwing Hanover. The horse continued to circle the course and ran five miles before he stopped of his own accord. Sands of Pleasure scored in sensational fashion ia the thiid race when he got up in the final stride to win from Big Feiiow and Alex Getz. Robinson, who won with Sands of Pleasure, also won on Mike Mullen at a long price in the opener. Huntress probably ran her last bm in T. C. Me-Dowells colors when she scored in the second race. Her owner contemplates sending her to the stud if he dots not sell her before shipping into winter quarters. Todays visitors included George M. Headrie and George Pulliam. who are extensively interested ia the Windsor track, and Joseph Marks, a prominent business and sporting mail of Detroit. Otto Stifel, St. Louis, was also among the visitors. J. C. Ferris arrived today in quest of additional racers that he desires to campaign at Juarez. J. M. Shilling sold Rifle Shooter today to M. F. Heib. The colt will be sent to New Orleans in charge of George R. Senn. E. XV. Moore traded Baby Sister to J. J. Timmer-111.111 for Bracktown Belle, which he intends to use for breeding purposes. The horses of Gallaher Bros, will be shipped to Lexingtui on Thursday to go into winter quarters. The departure of the special train for juarez has been postponed from October 30 until noon November 2. at the solicitation of horsemen who desire to remain here to vote at the coming election. Those horsemen who go to Louisville to vote can join the special ou its arrival there during the afternoon. W. Hurley sold Bian Spiller to M. Quinn and that racer will be rent with Bonanza and others to Juarez where they will Le raced this winter. Luke came out of th? handicap today iu a bad way, having suffered a severe hemorrhage durit.g the running. His stable mate. Bringhurst. is now-near his best form, but at that he would have been much closer up but for Hanovers belief that his mouth was bleeding when the blood aplarhad from Luke and as a result eased him up iu the last eighth. Howard Oots today pun-hased Manasseb an.l Chilla. which he will ship to New Orleans for winter racing and breed them in the spring. Manager Hachineister is making atahataaa preparations for tomorrow, when he expects to entertain one of the largest crowds that ever witnessed a days racing at Latonia. The running of the I_a-tonia Cup. which is down for decision, is arousing keen interest and delegations will be on hand from many nearby points. The Iiuisville aud Lexington contingents will be especially strong. George M. Hendrie stated that the improvements on the Windsor plant were well under way and would soon reach completion. The improvement* Includes the erection of 2PO new stalls and the addition of 700 feet to the betting ring. The added space will enable forty-six mutuel machines to be used. New draint have also been installed and considerable gardening done in front of the grandstand and in the infield. A bleacher that will easily accommodate 1.000 persons has also been erected. The three-quarters chute will be finished in about two weeks and the footing will have plenty of opportunity during the winter to become settled aud firm.
