October 27 — The Kentucky racing season of 1915 terminated this afternoon. Incidentally it marked the close of one tli** most successful meetings ever staged at Latonia. The card arranged was na excellent cue. with six races at one mile or over, head, d by the I-atunia Cup at two miles and a ipiai-ter. which brought into contention some of the best racers that could be mustered here. This was t.ie last of a series of long-distance events that had been run this fall n Kentucky courses. It furnished a victory for T. C. McDowells Star Jasmine in a close finish with Embroidery aad Disillusion after a sensational an.! game performance, in which the track record of 3:54. made by Lady Errant, was reduced t- 3:50f,. Expectation brought up in fourth place and thereby saved his starting and entrance fees. The winners lx.rtion of the purse was .99.". in addition to a handsome silver cup that the association provided. The lilly was handled witli rare judgment by the diminutive Ma.-k Garner and responded in game fashion, when called on to do her best. The early pace was made by Hank ODay, whicii gave way after leading for mile and a half to Embroidery. Disillusion challenged menacingly on the stretch turn bat tired in the last eighth. Then wheu Star Jasmine made her challenge Embroideiy offered stublM.ru resistan.-e. but finally tired enough near the end to let the McDowell mare score. Close and exciting contests kept the big tiiroug well entertained throughout the afternoon. Betting was of greater volume than at any former time during this meeting, and closely approached re.ord pre-portions. The mile and a sixteenth handicap and the sprint handicjp I r youngsters, serving as outstanding features, went to One Step and Blackie Daw respectively. The former won somewhat easily, hut Blackie Daw was forced to do his utmost to shake off Kathleen. Jin-key Mott began the afternoons proceedings in auspicious fashion when he piloted Intone and Brown Velvet home winners of the tirst and second races. This hoy has shown vastly improved form since his attachment to the P. M. Civiil establishment and has acquired for himself an extensive following. T. C. McI*owcUs horses will be shipped tomorrow to his Ashland Farm at Lexington, where tiiey will go into winter retirement. It is Mr. McDowells intent :«n C make a visit to New Orleans this winter, but he will not race any of his horses. Walter O. Parmer, secretary of the Windsor track and proprietor of the E.lenwoUi Farm near Nashville, was among the visitors. All of the officials departed tonight for their respective homes. Charles F. Price went to Louisville. E. C. Hopper to Houstonville and J. T. Ireland to Lexington. Siarter Morrissey went to his farm near Lexington to remain during t lie winter. Secretary Pearce returned home to Louisville, where he will sojourn for a while bef.re going to Juarez for the winter, and Assistant Secretary J. B. Campbell, who will serve at New Orleans next winter, went to the Crescent City. W. H. Shelley will soend the time intervening until the opening of lah Juarez meeting at his Louisville home, and Handicapper Jasper will slay in Cincinnati until he departs for the Mexican course, where he will serve as secretary. J. C. Yeager has acquired the filly Huntress from T. C. McDowell at private sale and she will be shipped to New Orleans. Jockey J- Kodcris will ride next winter at Juarez. Manager Haclimeistcr expressed much gratification over the successful meeting just terminate. I. He will accompany G. M. Heudrie. W. O. Parmer ami a party of friends to Lexington tomorrow to attend the Haggin dispersal sale. Bruen. the efficient assistant to Manager Hachmcister. will remain here until almut the middle of Novenilier before going to Havana, where he will again serve as auditor and manager of the pari-niutuel department. P. M. Civiil bought Hanovia today from M. A. Colton for the reported price of ,000. The Louisville and Lexington delegations here for the finish were extensive and included almost everyone prominent in racing. Irish Gentleman won his purchase price for his new owner when he accounted for the sixth race in easy fashion. At a sale held in the paddock todav the following horses were disposed of: Wildwood. R.
