CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The weanlings and broodmares belonging to Mr. Whitney which came over on he Samlam! have been sent down t « Brookdale Farm. The yearlings bought recently in England by Howard R ts lor Theodore Cook, of New York, aligning along well i:i their work at the Kentucky Association courts-. E. L. Davis purchased of W. II. Pnrtwood. of Midway. Ky.. the three-year-old bay tilly Hose of Ireland, by Jack Ioint — Georgia Carter, and sold her to Dr. St. Clair Street for a hunter. Over 10O yearlings are now taking their rudi-inenlary racing at Belmont Park, while not a few ra e horses of the more matured divisions are comfortably quartered there, with the pros|iect of remaining all winter. The ob! -time jockey. Clerioo. is looking after the welfare of Old Salt and Hock Abbey, which are now settled down for a long winter vacation at Itclmout Park, after a rather strenuous season of cross-country racing. The horses knocked down to James Ross at the Lexington sale l.tsi week were for the Juincy Stable. llau.hurg Belle, which died on October !t at Elmen-dorf. was not a total loss to the Haggin estate, as she was insured for .0110. D. Eaymotid, a Montreal owner and breeder of thoroughbreds, has added to his broodmares by the MttMi of Cloak from J. H. Meaftp at private sale. Cloak is a sprinter and has raced consistently on the half mile tracks in Canada. She is by Disguise — St. Cvptia and will be bred to Malamount. a son of living Fox. Trainer W. Brennan. who has charge of the Belli. out yearlings now at the Belmont Park track, is especially Impressed with I lie chestnut colt Wood Trap, bv Trap Hook W.iodhino. He regards this ■ •••It as the pick of the band, but it is believed that Mr. Belmont does not agree with him. The Wingtield beraee ale being trained at Pl.-ason-l-n. Pool from Lew Marion. By the terms of the new contract Hodgt-rs will have Pool as his -table jockey during tin- winter season at Juarez, and the boy will return to the employment of Mr. Marion next spring. H. L. Mr. Payne says this is the best pearling he ••v.r raised. He has worked a quarter in :22t.. going the tir-t eighth in :111ft.
