Thomas Welsh is on the way to France to buy v some choice broodmares for J. E. Widener of Philadelphia. It is also reported lhat he contemplates s buying a lot of yearlings in France, but as yet the . name of his client who is concerned in this transaction . has not transpired. N. Byer. who is training the horses of W. Ander son at Pimlico, has been sued for 5,1100 by Miss I Pearl E. Smith of Baltimore, who was seriously injured last Sunday in a collision between an automobile : alleged to have been driven by Mr. Byer and II one in which siie was riding. The Victoria Racing Club Derby was run over the e famous Fleming ton track October 30. before a great t crowd and resulted in the success of Patrobas, with Ii Cet tinge second and Westcourt third.
