GOOD SUNDAY RACING AT JUAREZ. Loftus Buns a Good Race and Defeats Wilhite — Busy Edith Recovers Her Speed Suddenly. El Paso. Tex., December 10. — Loftus. a east-ofT from the Respess stable that has been racing with distinction in the far west of late in the colors of Daniels A Hodges, accounted for the seven-eighths handicap that served as the feature race at Juarez this afternoon. The son of Dick Welles had the speed to go to the front with the rise of the barrier and had enough in reserve to withstand a challenge from Wilhite at the end. The latter, as a result of his recent good form, was a well-supported first choice and came with his usual speed at the end, but was unequal to the task of overtaking Loftus. Gano was held in highest regard for the opening race, but Petit Bleu and Ben Levy led him to the finish. The former was an easy winner. Furlong, showing something like his old-time form, scored at good odds in the second, for which Oakland was held at odds-on and failed to run to a place. First Star also disappointed as favorite for the third, which went to Cordie F. from the Miles stable. Busy Edith, neglected in the betting, showed a return to her good form in the fifth race, for which Maznik had supplanted Billy Joe in favoritism. Maznik went into a big early lead, hut found seven-eighths a trifle too far and the Weir filly beat him by a half length. Dundreary, in excellent form just now, made every post a winning one in the closing dash, in spite of FMtaways repeated challenges. G. W. Clark bid Furlong up from 00 to 00, but W. J. Weber protected the horse. Jockey W. Ormes was suspended for five days on the report of Patrol Judge Homan for rough riding in the fourth race. M. J. Winn will leave tomorrow for Louisville to spend the holidays with his family.
