Weather and track conditions were decidedly advene to flood racing, hut the Indies were unmindful of the cold and other disagreeable features and seemed to derive enjoyment from the proceedings, judging by their enthusiasm. Conforming to the former custom of ladies day. Secretary McLennan had arranged a program of six races at one mile or over. The starters in most instances were devoid of good i bHS, but they furnished a fairly good brand _ | sport, with the winners coming from the ranks of favorites and second chokes. Gallops suddenly improved showing resulted in a ruling from Judge Murphy refusing that horses farther entry here. The ruling was made without prejudice to trainer B. WuyJand. as the horse is regarded as an iiiconsi-lent racer. Eingling wound up her racing career with her start of yesterday, for she will lie shipped shortly to the Marrone farm, where she is intended for breeding purposes. Joseph Marrone bought iter this morning. .Inrkcy K. Burns was suspended for four days by the starter after the fourth race for disobedience at the post while riding Reno. Jockey F. Cooper, who came here last Sunday, applied fur R license to ride, but was refused pending an adjustment of his case by the Jockey Club. Coopers contract was purchased by H. G. Eedwell during the fall term of racing at Blue Bonnets, but the rider now seeks an anuullineut of the contract for cause, as he terms it. Starter Harry stall law J. who is officiating al Tla .luana. sent a letter here yesterday to a friend, in which he pictures the action at the new Mexican track in roseate colors. The scarcity of horses that at his; served as a drawback is now being overcome, according to Iforriaaey, and the attendance is keeping up surprisingly well. Ten bookmakers are operating at the track. H. Brulaski was among the visitors at the Fair Grounds today. He is enroute to Washington. Asked what he thought of the racing here, he replied: "Its the only way to conduct racing and pleases everybody."
