MANY THOROUGHBREDS REACH NEW YORK. New York. January 10. -The Steamship Lord Erin arrived here today from Fram e with forty-seven head of horses, lielieved to belong to F. R. Hitchcock. John Sanford and possibly some from the Herman B. Duryea stable. Others have left France and England and are expected lo arrive on the next Atlantic transport steamer. J. E. Davis, well-known owner of steeplechasers and president of the ripimr Rock Racing Association, has recovered from his recent operation. George I,oft. a well-known manufacturer of confections, councilman and probable candidate for mayor of New York, is a newcomer ou the turf. His horses will be trained by Max- Hirsch. J. C. Brady, owner of the Hamilton Farm in New Jersey, ami an exhibitor of show horses, has also decided to enter the ranks of thoroughbred owuers.
