i • r ■ i SANF0RD STRING IS SENT SOUTH. New York. January 28. — The departure of t.ie Sanford stable from Amsterdam, N Y.. for Palmetto Park. Charleston, s. c. took place today. Seven juveniles went with the ssesoaeq | erforuiers and they are the pick Of the establishment of the Amsterdam turfman. Two imported youngsters made the trip — Lonato. a Solferino colt and a half- brother to Rodfern. and the Meddler filly Gloriani. The most notable member of the native juvenile di vision is Meteorite, a chestnut son of Star SI i is 1 Hamburg Relle. This colt was the highest-priced yearling of 1015. being sold in open market for 2,500. Another likely colt in the shipment is Achilles, a bay BOB of Star Shoot and Veil. Tnis youngster is a half-brother to the highly-sold Yani-tie. The other three juveniles are home bred. 1if teen racers remain at the Huriieana larin in Amsterdam to prepare for campaigning in this state. These thoroughbreds will be in the care of trailer Steve Billings. The majority of his charges are lm ported racers, though he will look after a number of Ilurricana bred bersea. K-lklore. a bay fillv b ■ Star Shoot— Tradition, sold to Mr. Sanford f. r 86.000, appears to bo the most promising • the baby racers. This was the highest priced yearling filly sold in 1D15. The likeliest of the home hi ed two-year olds is Scarpia 1L. a sea of Isidor and l.i Tones. This colt is a brother to the speedy Sir John Johnson.
