February 9. — An incna*ed ai-tendance has peered the rule at Juarez every day for the past two weeks and those interested in the Mexican course are now highly encouraged regard ing conditions. It is safe to assert that when the meeting conies to an end a goodly balance on tin-right side of the ledger will be shown. The date for the closing of the meeting has not as yet been decided upon and much will dejiend upon the date* granted the various tracks iu Kentucky by the Kentucky State Racing Commission. M. J. Winn manager of the Juarez track, stated today that he would make a definite announcement regarding the date of closing within a short time. It is considered certain that at least fifteen day; will lie added and quite possible the original schedule will be increased to 120 days. As the purses throughout the west are not large. Manager Winn desires that all these turfmen be given an opportunity for earning shipping money before lcav-I ing here. Many horsemen who shipped from here to Tijuai; 1 have requested the local management to allow them to come back now that the meeting at San Diego is off. All owners who were in good standing when they left here were told to come, but several riders will not be allowed to accept mounts should tbey come back, having ridden several races before de-| parting that were not quite satisfactory to the stewards. A mile selling handicap was the chief offering i:i a racing way at Juarez this afternoon. Four well matched platers contested it and the outsider of the four was victorious when Cennaught got up at the end of a strenuous drive to beat Curlicue by a neck. The latter ruled favorite for the race with King Box and enjoyed a good lead at one time, but gave way when Connaught challenged in the stretch. W. G. Yanke returned today from a trip to San Francisco. He will remain indefinitely.
