JOCKEY ENGAGEMENTS IN ENGLAND. I hear that Donoglmes engagements to ride for Mr. Hullou second claim has terminated, and that he may be replaced by J. Childs. in which case the truck French jockey should have a good 1 i ; , I 1 i I season in prospect, for among his probable mounts in the "classics" are Atheling, and the flying filly Fifinella. but I regret to learn that there are whispers afloat to the effect that she may prove difficult to train owing to leg troubles. Childs was apprenticed to Tom Jennings, who has turned out many good Jockeys from the Phantom House "nursery." and is unquestionably one of the best horsemen of the present day: therefore Mr. Hulton may be congratulated on having secured his services for the coming season. I am, however, not in the position either to confirm or contradict the report. Donoghue will continue to ride first for Mr. Atty Persses stable, and being the "fashion" will doubtless command as much riding in addition as lie cares for. He was lucky last year in Mr. S. B. Joels Colors, winning the Two Thousand Guineas. New Derby, and September Stakes on Ionimern. practically a "cnance mount. F. Bullock, who is second to none in the art of race riding al the present time, will, as hitherto, be premier for R. Days stable, which will, of course, embrace Mr. J. B. Joels interests, which may mean much. — "Vigilant" in Loudon Sportsman.
