OAKLAWN FAVOMTES FAIL REYB0URN. AT LONG ODDS. DEVELOPS A MOOD TO RUN WITHOUT SULKING. Lackroso Runs a Bad Race — Jockey F. Murphy l Guides Cashup and Rio Brazos to Victory — Track Notes. Hot Springs. Ark.. March 33. — There was marked improvement in the action at Oaklawn lark this afternoon and the attendance likewise was of goodly proportions. Some of the races were interesting and close enough to arouse considerable eathasiaaaa. The worst upset of the afternoon developed with the running of the losing race, when IteylKuun. Which, iu his only former start here refused to leave the harrier and. snowing a running mood this afternoon, won over Birka and Jack Kterta. Mot-calfs riding of Birka was ineffective and the effort of Kederia on Alston was worse. The defeat of Lackroso was a stunner to the talent. He was extensively supported, lint was outpaced decisively all Hie way, although lie managed to land third place. lackey F. Murphy showed good riding form during the afternoon hy winning two panes. Hi-initial victory came in the opener. Whoa he just managed to tiring up Cashup in time to defeat Golden Bantam. The latter was probably best, but became involved with War Bride in a humping duel ill the stretch and when she pulled out. lost enough ground to coat her tie- purse, itio iirazos was his Ot her w inning mount. II. S. Newmans Iar Away, which is showing steady improvement, made a runaway affair of tie fifth race and won with consummate ease. Captain C. A. Tilles was among this afternoons arrivals. Several of the riders here are liable to be disciplined unless they display a radical change in their riding methods. One of these Jockeys re-eciitl-. signed a lucrative contract to ride for a pretentious stahle. It is expected that hy the en I of this week the racing will have taken on an air of importance that will make it rank almost on a par with that at New Orleans. Barney Bchreiher headed a big delegation that arrived from New Orleans this morning. 1red Sloeiim joined the layers this afternoon. He came from New York yesterday.
