HEAVY AT HAVRE DE GRACE RAIN AND DISAGREEABLE WEATHER GENER-ALLY DOES NOT PREVENT A BIG CROWD. Manokin Wins the Perryville Selling Stakes and Brave Cunarder Makes it a Double for Beel- well — The Masquerader Takes His Race. Baltimore. Mel.. April 27. — The Perryville Selling Stakes, for two-year-olds, was offe-ri-el as the feature race- at Havre de Grace this afternoon and resulted in a victory for H. G. Bedwells Manokin. It was the smalh-st field that has contested this fixture since its inauguration, only three starting. The winner was ridden by F. Keogh and showed speed in the heavy mud. The race was rather spectacular, although the winner was gradually drawing away at the finish. Chemung was second, cmtgaming Rhymer in the final few yards. The latter got away slowly from the barrier. The Perryville Selling Stakes was first run in 1913 and its history, briefly summarized, follows: Year. Winner. Wt. Jockey. Val. Time. 1913 Gordon 120 J. Wilson . .$ 675 :54% 1914 Surgeon 99 J. Callahan. 575 :54% 1915 Golden List 104 E. Taplin... 575 :55% MM Manokin 107 F. Keogh .. . 675 :57 The colors of H. G. Bedwell were conspie-uous during the afternoon, scoring a double with Brave Cunarder and Manokin. Both victories, however, were e-ostly to the stable on ae-count of runups. Brave Cunarder showed a much better performance than in his previous start. It was probably the most disagreeable day that rae-c- goers have had to face this season. A heavy rain which fell steadily during the night rendered the trae-k a veritable quagmire and caused the withdrawal of many of those entered overnight. The attendance, however, showed no falling oft". A big crowd journeyed to the course from nearby cities. The colors of Ral Parr of Baltimore were victorious in the opening dash when the heavily weighted The Masquerader scored his first victory in a long time.
