CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. L. Feustel has bought a two-year-old brother to his fast and useful bay gelding He Will, by lleno — Naughty Lady. Messrs. Johnson and Billings had the misfortune to lose- one of their imported two-year-old colts recently. It was the bay colt Tom Thumb, by Marajax — Sister Ltimley. Trainer Thomas Murphy gave the Duryoa thoroughbreds, which are eiuartereel at the Haggin barn in Neck Road, slow work over the Gravesend trae-k Wednesday. They were ridden by stable grooms in their work, most of them having from 1Y0 to 180 pounds iqi. Crimper and Frizzle were at the- head of the big string. Trainers Frank Regan. Frank Taylor and A. J. Golelsboroiigh will not begin the season before the opening of the metroiiolitan circuit at Jamaica. Trainer S. Lawler and trainer Mulre-iian are also at Gravesend for the present, and it is probable that they will remain there until the opening of racing at Jamaica, May 18. The-odore Smith, who owns most of the horses George Oelom has in charge, lias taken a stable at Belmont Park, near that occupied by W. II. Kar-rick. and is fiting it up as permanent training head-quartcrs for the Idom string. It has been wired for electric- lighting. George Odom expects to move his horses into their new quarters next week. W. R. Coe has purchased from H. P. Whitney the big six-year-old chestnut horse Harmouicon. by Disguise — Harpsichord, with the intention of putting him in the stud at his Shoshone Valley ranch in Wyoming. In addition to his rich breeding he is a horse of great speed and, when in England, was a first-rate- sprinter. In this country last year he did not race to his form abroad, but was a winner. Max Hirsch has transferred his horses from Gravesend to Belmont Park. He has decided not to go to the Maryland circuit, although he had confidently expected to do so. Just when he was about reaeiy to leave for the south his two-year-olds developed bucked shins, and it will lie a week or more before they will be ready for active service again. John E. Madden wrote Max Hirsch last week that he intended to ship him seven horses from I»uisville. and trainer Hirsch has been expecting them since last Sunday.
