SEAGRAM CANDIDATES WORK ENCOURAGING Toronto Ont., May 12. — Mandarin, from the Seagram stable, worked a mile and a quarter, the Kings Plate distance, this morning in 2:14%. This plater was timed a mile in 1:46 last Monday. Mandarin will probably lie Mr. Seagrams chief reliance for the Kings Guineas. The truck this morning was fairly fast and weather conditions not unfavorable. Mandarin carried perhaps fifteen pounds more than has been allotted to him iu the race. ■
