] MANY FOREIGNERS ARRIVE FROM ABROAD. Big Consignments of Horses for Belmont, Sanford, Hitchcock and Burke Reach New York. New York, May 15. — The steamship Manchuria, which sailed from Ijondon. May 2, docked at Pier 50, North River, of the Atlantic Transport Company, early Saturday forenoon. She brought over twenty-one thoroughbreds from August Helmonts French breeding establishment — eight three-year-olds and thirteen yearlings — all bred by the chairman of the Jockey Club. Peculiar interest is attached to this shipment because it included three yearlings by Mr. Helmonts famous race horse Tracery, by Rock Sand — Topiary. Three of the three-year-olds are sons of Tracerys great sire, Rock Sand, and the other five are sons of the good race horse Ethelbert. The yearlings, of Which eight are colts and five fillies, are by Tracery, Alcantara, Flint Rock, Ethelbert and Negofol. Besides Mr. Helmonts, the Manchuria brought over four thoroughbreds for John Sanford, three for Thomas Hitehock and five steeplechasers for Bdward Bathe, who last year achieved an enviable racing record with his fast jumper, Old Salt. Edward Hurke also came over on the Manchuria, and along with him ex -jockey Henry Shields, who has been training horses on the other side of the Atlantic for a considerable time. AH the horses shipped finely. After Mr. Helmonts horses had been landed from the ship the eight three -year-olds woro sent to Helmont Park in horse vans. They will be taken in hand by trainer S. C. Hildreth. It is hardly probable that they will lie ready to race before the opening of the Saratoga meeting, or the Kmpire City meeting at the earliest. The yearlings have been s-nt to the Nursery Stud near Lexington, Ky. Mr. Helmont. who had tile forethought to have his horses passed through in bond Friday, experienced no difficulty in getting them off the ship promptly. All the others were held up and were not landed until Monday. Thomas Hitchcock imported three colts, presumably three-year-olds, but their papers did not come with them and they will be held up until these documents shall have arrived through the mails. Mr. Sanford had his papers and so did Edward Hurke. but as the custom house closed at noon. they wen- too late to have them passed. Mr. Sanfords horses are as follows: Grand Opera, eh. c. 3. by Santry — Light Opera: Brunilcy. eh. h. 5. by Isidor — Adriutha: Hittetius. eh. e. 4. by QatetethJ — Wheatley; Ge., ch. c, 3, by Hachelors Hut ton — Jenny. Joseph Hurkes steeplechasers are as follows: Pilgrims Father, ch. g, 5. by Cicero — Pilgrims Way; Light Arms b. h, 7, by Labrador— Light Shot; Ber-rilldon, ch. h, 7. by HerriL — Contribution: Quel Honheur. b. g. 4. by Turbine — Fragilitie; Killaua, kr. m, 5. by Killeagh — Annaross. The Helmont reinforcements for his three-year-old division in training are: Ampers. b. c, by Ethelbert — Amieitia. Dramaturge, ch. c. by Ethelbert — Drama. Fielding, b. or br. c. by Rock Sand — field Mouse. Functionaire. b. c. by Ethelbert — Fond Hopes. Half Way, blk. c. by Rock Sand — Half Sovereign. Kingling. b. c. by Ethelbert — Kings Favorite. Valais. b. c. by Ethelbert — Lady of the Valley. Viewpoint, eh. c, by Hock Sand — Golden View. The Hurke jumpers may do well in our racing, as soon as they are ready for action. All have been raced in England this year and. of the five. Pilgrims Fatiier is the only one which has not been returned a winner in 1910.
