NOMINATIONS TO THE HAREOR HILL CUP. The Harbor Hill Cup, a steeplechase for three-year-olds, which will be run at the autumn meeting of the Piping Rock Racing Association in October, has closed with twenty-eight entries, a record in the way of nominations for this event, both for the several years it has been run at Piping Rock and during the period it was decided at Kelmont Park. The event is a contribution from Clarence H. Mackay. who generously donates the added money, ,000, in addition to which he gives the cup, which has a value of 00. Heretofore the cup had to be won twice by the same owner, but this year the winner of the race will receive the plate outright, the change being made at the suggestion of Mr. Mackay, whose interest in steeplechasing and the amateur meetings generally, is unusually keen. The list of nominators this year includes not alone the names of all the prominent cross-country stables, but several newcomers, who, appreciating the rapid growth of steeplechasing and the rich inducements now offered at the hunt meetings, have decided to support what they well realize is one of the main props of racing.
