CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. There is an epidemic of girth disease at Latonia. A well-known trainer estimated that at least 150 horses are affected with it. Many trainers have burned all their girths and bandages in an effort to stay the infection. Jockey M. Buxton, who has signed a contract to ride for the A. K. Mncomber stable next season, will report to trainer Jennings April 1 and continue until November 15, getting a 5,000 retainer and the stipulated fees for ridini; winners and losers. The Australian Jockey Club Derby was run at Randwick October 3, anil resulted in the success of Kilboy, with Easteourt second and Colbert third. Sixteen ran and Kilboy was the favorite at 5 to 4, while it was 12 to 1 against Easteourt and 33 to 1 against Colbert. The mile and a half of the race was covered in 2:39. At the close of the Australian racing season of 1915-10, the list of winning stallions was headed for the first time by Wallace, by Carbine Melodious, and he is the first Victorian horse to achieve that distinction since Pilgrims Progress did so in 1903. The progeny of Wallace won in stakes 24,-725. Second on the list is the imported Linacre, by Wolfs Crag Lismaine. with 90,105, third place being filled by Bobadil, by Bill of Portland She. with 2,340. The first half-dozen are completed by Mnlster, by Bill of Portland Barley, 0,030; Grafton, by Galopin Maid Marian, 1916.sh9,230, and Pistol, by Carbine Wenonah, 1916.sh0,100.
