OWNER WfflGFIELDS LUCK TAICES BOTH OF THE HANDICAPS FEATURING THE TIJUANA CARD. Scarlet Oaks an Easy Winner in a Fast Raco But Square Set Defeats Maud Bacon With Difficulty. San Diego, Cal.. November 23. The colors of millionaire George W. Wingfield were carried to victory in both handicaps today. Scarlet Oaks ran three-quarters in 1:12 to beat a shiftv band of sprinters. She was much the best. OBrien sent her to the front with a rush and she never lost her position, winning easing up. Redland and Kootenav challenged in the stretch but the mare was easily best. Square Set won the Two-Year-Old Handicap, but barely beat Maud Bacon and the general opinion was that the filly was the best. Roilin Laird cut both horses otf at the three-eighths post and Square Set recovered much the quicker. Maud Bacon would probably have won in a couple of more strides. Two horses were claimed "Wednesday. Toba Ramsey claimed Camellia out of the last race, while John Hurie was claimed by the San Francisco Stable. The horse Andy II. has been sold to William St. Vincent by Juan Fuentez. Red Walker arrived here this morning from Rowie. Both Walker and Buxton are ready to introduce two young apprentice riders. Walker has W. Crooks, while Buxton holds the contract on Arthur Casey. Moonlight was slightly hurt this morning, when Palms allowed the horse to run into a harrow on the track.
