CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The promising apprentice W. Crump, under contract to E. W. Moore, is riding in great form at 35owie, having eight winners to his credit since the opening of that meeting. Prince Eugene, from the stable of Kay Spence, is going along soundly in his works at the Juarez track, lie worked out a half in 49 seconds Monday, while Yaca, another of the Spence horses, is credited with the same time for the distance. Earl Linnell, who retired from the turf some years ago to engage in the hotel business in California, has come back to the races in a modest way, having one horse at Tijuana, the six-year-old Kenneth, which carried the Linnell colors to victory in the fifth race Saturday. Linnell was a capable and successful trainer in the old days, well and favorably known on both eastern and western courses. The four-year-old bay gelding, Hauberk, has shown remarkable improvement since becoming member of the J. F. Sweeney stable Hauberk has won his last four races. When a two-year-old he -was introduced to racing by J. L. Holland and, k after he had won a purse and then defeated Marion H., The Masquerader and others in the Juvenile Stakes at Belmont Park, was sold to W. R. Coe for a long price. After running Comely to a neck in the Keene Memorial Stakes, he fell lame and raced no more that year. Last year he did nothing, but now he presents the case of a naturally good horse regaining the high form of his early days. Tuesday at the Juarez race track Superintendent Trauk Keegan received the shipment of the seven nnutuel machines that are to do duty at the opening of the winter meeting that gets under way Thanksgiving day.
