ADMIRAL ROUS CRAFTY HANDICAP SYSTEM. A good story is told of the great English sjHirts-man and handicapper, Admiral Rous, and a handicap candidate in the sixties. This colt the admiral handicapped for the Great Ebor Handicap at about eighty-four pounds. Then he heard a whisper about him, but it was his non-acceptance for the Great Ebor that put tho fat in the fire. "What, not accepted for the Great Ebor with eighty-four pounds? Then he has no business in the Cesarewitch at all," said the old cynic and he promptly gave him 112 pounds. The colt ran and only lost by a neck.
