LEONIDAS DIES IN AUSTRALIA. During the week R. H. Dangar of Neotsfield. suffered a severe loss in the death of his imported American-bred sire Leonitlas, which he purchased at the dispersal sale of I. II. Wheatcrofts stock here in 1912. Leonitlas was a shapely brown horse by Hamburg — Roise, by Hampton, and a tail male descendant of Herod. Although he did not get really any opportunity in Australia, the only two tif his stock Mad here are winners, anil he has left behind himvat Neotsfield the best looking band of young horses they have ever hail there. Most of these, of course, are out of utility mares, but there are one or two youngsters which will find their way into the yearling sale ring iu due course, and their looks will speak for themselvt s. Leonidas was quite a high-class performer on the American turf, and sired winners there before being shipped here. — Sydney Referee of December 13.
