The great majority of these have been aeea at the New Orleans meeting, which has given nineteen such races to eight of the kind at Tijuana and four at Juarez. Havana having carded no two-year old features. The best performance ti date lias been achieved by Perch, a bay filly by Ivan tin- Terrible — Skeptical, belonging to K. Spence, which ran the three-eighths at Juarez. January 21, in Ml.-,, carrying 10.1 pounds. This, however, does not take into consideration track conditions, which have been poor in the case of most of the juvenile races at the other two tracks. Previous to her victory, and at her first start. Perch had been beaten by Belle Koberts and Blue Addie in 30 flat on a fast track. To W. P. Johnsons Henry It., a bay colt by Jack Atkin -Mattel-horn, belongs the credit of having won tin- most baby races to date, three of them having been achieved en a fast track, one on a muddy track, and one on a heavy track, and ln-cnrried not less than 117 pounds each time. His first victory was accomplished in a drive with Valspar. and his next two victories came easily. Bracelet, Laura hUBer Bad Bad Bearer, of this quintet of "doubles." the showing by Bracelet may possibly be considered most impressive, involving as it does, apparently gradual improvement, races on various types of track and an impressive victory when the distance, at the first of February. ■i;i e-tended a half furlong on which occasion. Thursday last, she defeated a band made up chiefly of two-year-olds which already had earned brackets, and did it easily. Israeelet is a chestnut filly by All Cold— novelet, belonging to J. O. Tulbntt. and was bred by Harry Payne Whitney. It is intere-ting to Bote that Bracelet, is the si-rend foal from Oovelot. which is now only seven y.-ars old. so that if Bracelet goes on and develops Mto S racer worthy of the big summer meetings, it would establish Hovelet in a pnimising position among bresdaaares. Dovelet is by Peter Pan —Cushat, the latter a mare bapec*td by J. B. and F. I". Keene which died tin- year after Basalt t was foaled. Witii two such successive foals as Ilwfa and Bracelet as a starter. Dovelet is at least doing pr.tty well for a broodmare. Bhe is asraed by .. Kaebetbasap. Jack Atkin. All Cold and Dick Welles are the only sires whoso two year-md progeny has won more than one race to date.
