CONGRESSMAN LOFT BUYS FINE COLTS. Secures Two High-Bred Ones from J. 0. Kceno Through Trainer Max Hirsch. Lexington. Ky.. February 5. — Max Hirsch. trainer for Hon. Ceorge W. Left, member of congress from the thirteenth district of New York, after having visited New Orleans and other points in quest of young racing material, came to Lexington this morning and bought from J. O. Keene two beautifully bred colts. One is a brown son of Ogden — Zahra and the other is a chestnut colt by Ballot — Micaela. The dams of both colts were winners and both bat • produce! winners. The blood of both colts is purely English, there not being an American strain in either of tiiem. I hey are individually prepossessing and though not broken until late in the fall, after Mr. Keene had decided to -i to Europe, both showed enough to warrant them as quite fast. No finer specMaea of thoroughbred ever left Kentucky than the Ogden — Zahra colt. If his record on the turf is as illustrious as it promises to be. he has every other quality accessary to the making of a great sire. The Ballot colt, which was broken for Mr. Kc-ne by W. H. Karrick; worked eighths fast. The price paid for the colts was not made public, but it must have been well into four figures, since it is known here that Mr. Keene before his visit to England, refused several quite flattering offers for them. The ballot colt is now in New York and the Ogden colt will be shipped to Belmont Park tomorrow.
