ROUTINE NEW ORLEANS DAY DEEP MUD KEEPS THE GOOD HORSES IN THEIR STALLS AND PLATERS HOLD SWAY. Fleetabcllc Defeats Gainer in the Feature Race of the Afternoon — Three Different Owners Win Their First Race of the Meeting. New Orleans. La., February 9. — Todays racing was again of the routine variety, with little in the way of outstanding estate*. The bad track was responsible for the absence of racers with any pre-tffasioa tc. peed Class. About the best field that contested during the afternoon, was in the fifth race at three -quarters, in winch several useful ones met. It resulted iu a victory for Kleetabelle. with Gainer landing second place and Lukcmao third. After the finish there were claims lodged for Koseoo loose and J. R. Hennessey representing .!. II. I.ooker secured him for ,450. The claimed horse displayed a high turn of speed, but Murphys action in crossing in front of the others at the start, earned for him a four days suspension. excepting Baca engagements as he may have in stakes during that period. The chief sufferer by the interference was Pocki-choo. which nearly fell and it eliminated him as a factor, lockichoo had been supported with a de-gre ■ of confidence. In the mile parse, Candle displayed his best form, but his ceaaectioas were disappointed if they figured on getting the layers out of line, for they instilled him favorite and kept him a choice throughout. He made good in easy style from Matin, with Baby Lynch following, lieree W.. in this was the leader when he broke down and the easy manner in which he was going before the mishap indicated that he would have been a dangerous factor in the result. lieacikill enabled W. Cahill to annex a purse fir the first time at this meeting. His victory was attended by a good deal of profit for his connections. Owen Pons was another owner to land a _ first parse bete, when his Meddling Miss led home JJp an ordimi-y band in the secoud. Another first time winner here was II. .1. Seideneck. whose Thornwood won in the third race. McTaggarts superior riding skill enabled Jabot to win in the tilth and laymaster. showing improved form, landed the final dash from Impression and Stolen Ante. Th ■ judges today modified the suspensions against J. Williams and .leffcott. which will enable these riders to accept mounts for their contract employers, in stake race-, to lie decided during the remainder of tie- meeting. .1. T. Ireland took over Shoddy, that A. O. ISlake-lej had leased from him last fall. Jeny Carroll, trainer of the V. K. Coe stable, will take all the horses under his care to Hot Springs. After the Hot Springs racing the horses will be shipped to Lxington for the opening of Kentucky racing. It is trainer Carrolls intention to have at least one representative in the Kentucky Derby.
