H. G. BEDWELL SCORES A DOUBLE. Borax and Golden List Carry His Colors to Victory — Jesse Jr. Delays Start of Fourth Race. Havana. Cuba. February 14. — The races at Oriental Iark this afternoon were run over a lumpy ami heavy brack. The footing dried out. however, as the afternoon progressed and should be iu fairly good condition by tomorrow. The hackers had a good line on the horses that fancied that sort of going and a majority of the races were won by the favorites. There was added zest to the speculation owing to the fact that a couple of new bookmakers cut in. The sport here for the remainder of the meeting should be lively. Jesse Jr. lost a shoe in warming up for the fourth race and a delay of thirty minutes was caused before another shoe could be put on. Tiie Bedwell stable score a double, when Borax and Golden List won the fourth and fitfh races, renpi cttvely. 1. L. Short and J. W. Hedrick put in claims for Borax, and the former got him for ,S9o. J. W. Hedrick claimed Fonctionnaire for S7:.o. Bob Well and L Hamlin claimed Yorkville and, in the drawing. Hamlin secured the gelding for ,11:3.
