CAPTAIN CASSATT HAS GOOD STRING. Stable Under Management of Simon Healy Made Up Entirely of Youngsters. BaUkWire., Mi., March Lib Captain K. B. Cassatt cleaned out the old campaigners of his stable list summer v. hen he sold Trial by Jury to Wilfrid Viau of Montreal, and retired his brilliant mare Flying Fairy to Chestc r brook Farm for stud service. Accordingly the string he will campaign in Maryland this spring, under the management of Simon Healy. will be made up entirely of two and three-year-olds, all of them home-hred. Healy expects to be at Itowie sometime before the opening of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associnl ions siuing meeting next Monday, and to have all his ranaera ready for the colors. There is ;i first rate training track at hesterbrook Farm, where the Cassatt hone* put in the winter, and Healy has been busy all the while. The nani"s and breeding of the two year eibls Captain Cassatt will race at Bowie and elsewhere in Maryland are: Camba. ell. f. by Aeronaut — Battle Bouncer. Daedalus, ch. c. b.v Aeronaut — Princess Chic. Ierigourdine. br. f. b.v Aeronaut — Miss Ferigord. Psrtia, b. f, by Doii de Oro — Litigant. Souaiangha. ch. f. by Don de Oro — Sunrise. Trite, ch. c, by Aeronaut — Sententious. Daedalus, a smoothly turned chestnut, with as clean a set of legs as ever bare a thoroughbred, is a half brother of Trial by Jury, the best horse. barring Flying Fairy. Captain Cassatt has bred in the1 course ol his six or s-ven years experience as a producer of thoroughbreds at Cbesterbrook Farm. He bears a close resemblance- to his sire, a son of Ay -shire and a hers" of high speed «mii years back. Baedalaa showed a good turn of speed last fall when Healy broke him and he has matured appreciably over wii ter. Aeronauts Get a Sturdy Band. Camba. is a shrter of that accomplished printer Springboard, which, after a career of merit in this coaatry and Canada, turned sulker and is .low doing atitttj work at Cheslerbrook. Camba i- a lighter type than Springboard, but not deficient in size. Aeronaut b.cpieatlis bone and substance to his get and the Cassatt horses are raised in a eoBn try noted for its good-looking live stock. Sou-mangha is a hall sist r of that good thre, year-oil of last year which bore the Cassatt silks part of tiie time. Sun God. Her sire. Don de Oro, is a son of the late Rayon dOr. Don de Ores other representative in the establishment, tin- filly Portia, is a half-sister of Ben pper ami Lawsuit, hath horses of speed but erratic temper. Portia showed plenty of sp: ed when she wis broken last fall, and she lias not yet discovered any of the temper that de-Stroyed the usefulness of her two half-brothers. which were son, of Aeronaut. The Caaaatl stable is not without strength in the three-year-old department either. There is a good looking *rell -developed half-sister of Trial by Jury •ml Daedalus in the string Healy will bring to Bowie, called Cachet. Cachel did not do enough racing last season o win the attention of the dope-book sharps, but tiie stable thinks so well of her that she is named for many valuable stakes up the line. And the three-year-old brother of Spring board that is called Backboard has matured into as handsome a colt as one wotil I wish to see. Bark-hoard is to be tried out thoroughly at Howie ill circle r that his fitness to start in the Ireukness and ether valuable specials fir horses of his age to be run later on may be determined.
