CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The one "iM-st Iwt" at Bowie is jockey Frank Bohinson. He rode four winners Tuesday and three on Wednesday. There is some talk of holding a nineteen days meeting at Beno. Xev.. beginning June 1!. L. J. Bose will be in charge. O. K. Bishop sold Hondo at private terms at Hot Springs Wednesday morning to Jack Sturgis. The latter is acting for a wealthy newcomer to racing. The Cerman Steeplechase Society has now a lady secretary, who has been appointed in place of Senior-Lieut. Schmidt. The latter has had to retire owing to his military duties. At an auction sale at Tijuana last Saturday. Al Levy purchased Cladys I Am for fMB; W. Fischer got Jawbone for Sf-Ot; W. St. Vincent liought Azurea for 2.", and W. Cotton secured Jake Argent for 7." . Jockey R. Wingfiold, leading rider nt Havana during the winter, has arrived at his home in Latonia. Ky.. but will go immediately to Louisville, to get ready for the coining Kentucky meetings. Wiugfield is under contract to J. S. Ever-nian. Cuddle I"p is probably best of the band that Major C. W. Otwell will send to the races this year. This filly wa-s bred by CaaaL E. B. Cassatt at Chester-brook and is by Sir John Johnson — Miss Perigord. She was in Cuba all winter and won three races, as well as a fair share of second and third money. Among the horses burned in the fire at Vcitchs stable at Belmont Park several weeks ago was Irish Hart, the property of Rufus C. Finch. M. F. H., of the Watchung Hunt. This horse was purchased in Canada last fall by Mr. Finch for a jumper and he had shown enough to warrant hopes of winning in fair company. Mr. Finch will now confine his operations to the flat with Cabaret, which he has leased for the year. I
