TWENTY-FOURTH RUNNING OF THE ASHLAND OAKS, FOR THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES 4. 1 , 4 Yesterday was the twenty -fourth running of the Ashland Oaks, an annual featan of early spring racing in Kentucky. Instituted in 1s7b. the Ashlaad Oaks was ran at one and one half miles for the lir-t four years, then changed to one nad a quarter miles and continued at thai distance to 1MB, when it was reduced to its present distance of one mile. In its list of winners and participants appears the names of many high-Class matrons, which achieved fame on the turf and later in the stud.
