EMINENT ENGLISH TURFMAN PASSES ON. Leopold de Itothschild died Tuesday morning at his home at Lcighton Buzzard, England, after an illness of six weeks. Mr. de Rothschild was 72 years old and was the third son of Paron Lionel de Rothschild, founder of the English branch of the famous banking house. Following the custom of his house, he bred and raced the thoroughbred on an extensive scale. For him it was that St. Frus-aata won the Two Thousand Guineas of ISiXi: St. Am. int the Two Thousand Guineas and Epsom Derby of 1ยป04. and Doricles the Doncaster St. Leger of 1901. St. Amatit also won for him the 0,000 Jockey Club Stakes of 1905. Many other horses of great fame and deeds raced in his colors from year to year. He was a kindly and popular man and his death will be sincerely deplored in English racing circles.
