MUTUEL BETTING AT BLUE BONNETS. In England one can bet straight and place. If the horse runs scon. I or third, the place bet is won and at the same price. What is called "show" betting here is unknown there. I sually the place price, whether the horse runs second or third, is on.- fourth of the price to win. Somewhat similar to this is the experimental betting in the muliiels at the present Blue Bounds meeting, inly straight and place tickets are sold, the three placed horses each paying "a place" at their respective place prices. There is no show price. OoBsei|uentiy the winning horse pays two ways; straight and a place, the second and third horse each pay one way: a place, at whatever price their return in the ticket dividends may call for.
