BLAMES CITY FOR DEATH OF REDFERN. New York. .Tune 21. — Mrs. Arthur Bedftrn, widow of the late jockey Arthur Redfern. has filed suit against the city of New York, alleging that the city was responsible for the death of her husband and injuries to herself. On May 4 last. Redfern. while out automobile riding witli his wife along Twenty-second avenue. Mrooklyn. his machine struck a street barrier and overturned, pinning hint beneath the wreck. He was rushed to the Coney Island Hospital, where he died four days later. His wife was severely cut and bruised. Redfern, who was about 38 years of age at the time of his death, attained the height of his popularity us a jockey about fifteen years ago, when he rode for the lute William C. Whitney, James R. Keene, IS. It. Thomas and others.
