CURBENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Mike Lynch will act as assistant starter at the Mount Boyal Park meeting. Fully 5.000 people witnessed the final days racing at Maisonneuve Park, Montreal, last Saturday. C. I. Crippen bought the filly Ethel Welles Saturday at Maisonneuve at private sale. Superintendent Matter of the Jamaica track says it will take about ,000 to rebuild the William Shields stable rectntly destroyed by fire. George Odom has sent the seven yearlings, which he bought at the Hancock and Camden sale for the Brighton Stable, to the Graveseml course, where they will begin their first racing lessons. The horse Golden Fox. owned by Mr. Phil T. China, of Lexington, died at Lexington on the 17th from pneumonia contracted while shipping from New York. While the loss is a serious one, Mr. Chinn is the holder of a Hartford policy on this horse, taken through the same agency.
