Won easily; second and third driving. STARFINCII led under slight restraint in the early running and raced into a long lead in the homestretch, but was tiring slightly in the final eighth and was under mild pressure at the finish. BEAVER-KILL went up into the air at the start and raced in the deepest going next to the inner rail for a half-mile, then came on the outside in the final quarter and, finishing fast under punishment,- outgamed MANNCHEN in the closing strides. AL REEVES passed WELDSIIIP in the final turn of the field and rushed into a long lead, then held on gamely in the final drive and outstayed MAITRE CORBEAU. The latter was under stout restraint In the early running, then closed up steadily when called on, but failed to quite get up. PEBETO. was outpaced for the first mile, but closed up gamely under punishment and was in tight quarters in the final sixteenth. WELDSIIIP displayed his usual brilliant speed, but tired. NORTHWOOD fenced well, but quit badly in the final quarter. BET ran out at the fourteenth jump and forced SUN KING out witli A her. SHANNON RIVER lost his rider at the sixth jump. PAPP began well back, but slipped through next to the inner rail in the early running, tlion came around the leaders in the finnl quarter and, passing ADELINE PATRICIA in the last sixteenth won going away. ADELINE PATRICIA, away forwardly, set a fast pace and raced into a long lead, then tired when challenged, but held on gamely under punishment. TOP COAT came wide on the last turn and closed up menacingly at the eighth post, but tired in the closing strides. DRASTIC began slowly, but had a clear course throughout and gained steadily. MATINEE IDOL, shuffled back at the start, closed, a big gap. CURRENCY met with repeated interference and was forced to pull up when coming fast at the eighth post. ROAMER took the lead at the start and, setting a good pace for the going, held on tenaciously under hard riding when challenged and outstayed SPUR in the final drive. SPUR, under slight .restraint in the early running, saved ground on the stretch turn, closed up steadily under punishment and was wearing the leader down in the final strides. TICKET was a forward contender all the way and finished fast and gamely. GEORGE SMITH was well ridden and gaining at the finish. OLD ROSEBUD raced under a choking pull for a mile and tired when called ou for a final effort. CAMPFIRE had no mishaps and quit. BORROW tired badly. SQUARE DEALER saved ground on the turns, came around ROLY in the homestretch and, drawing clear, won with speed in reserve. CHEER LEADER, after racing under stout restraint, slipped through next to the inner rail and finished fast through the final quarter. ROLY displayed the most speed for a half mile, but gave way after going three-quarters and pulled up extremely lame. THORNHILL was never a dangerous contender. SPEARMAN, high in flesh, showed a Hash of speed for a half and was eased up. The winner, entered for ,300. was bid up to ,800 and bought by W. H. Pearce. HAND GRENADE moved up on the stretch turn, but ran wide, then closed up again and was gaining at the finish. APPROVAL was hard ridden and raced forwardly in the early running, but tired. WYOMING closed a big gap and ran a good race. TANLAC and SO LONG LETTY met with repeated interference. COUSIN O MINE was almost knocked down. Scratched Rubber II.. 115.
