SPEEDING UP FOR SARATOGA SPECIAL All the Star Two-Year-Olds Expected to Meet in Big Feature of Saturday. Saratoga, N. Y., August 9. Trainers of all the stables housing eligibles to the Saratoga Special, the feature of Saturdays program, have been toning up their star youngsters with that big prize in view. Lucullitc, August Belmonts most likely representative, has been given light work during the week and looks fit. Walter Jennings is planning on sending Tracksend to the post in the Macomber colors, as this good son of Uncle is burning up the track in his work-outs. Tuesday Tracksend gave the dockers something to talk about when lie went three-quarters in 1:151. G. W. Loft is counting on his speedy Peter Quince colt Papp, winner of the Whirl, Flash and United States Hotel Stakes, to carry oil the Special. James Butlers reliance v.-ill probably be Bantry. which has been working in excellent style. Bughouse or Currency -will be the Gifford Cochran standard bearer. If R. T. Wilson, president of the Saratoga Association, lias a representative in the race, it will be his Olambala filly Queen Margot. Andrew Miller will depend on his Textile colt The Spinner. Speculation is rife as to whether the Whitney stable will start Solomon, a son of Whisk Broom Stamina, which has been saved for the Saratoga meeting. Other probable starters are J. W. Corrigans Ultima Thule, S. D. Riddles Bully Boy, W. S. Kilmers Sun Briar and James MacManus Adeline Patricia. The Special will be worth close to 0,000. The field will undoubtedly, be large because no two-year-old of the current season stands out as did Campfire, Dominant, Regret, Roamer, Novelty, Sir Martin, Colin, Salvidere and Sysonby, winners in their years. Besides Solomon, there are a number of high bred ones in the other big stables, but if thev are of real promise, it is probable that they are in reserve for the much more valuable Hopeful Stakes, to be run on the last day of the Saratoga meeting.
