DIVERSION slipped through next to the rail on the last turn and drew away into a long lead in the homestretch to win pulling up. J. J. LILLIS met with minor interference on the backstretclu and was forced to pull up, but came around the leaders in the last quarter and finished with a belated rush. POMP began slowly, but saved ground on the stretch turn and finished fast and gamely under punishment. PHOCION, hard ridden all the way, made a game efTort at the eighth post, then tired. HARVEST KING, away forwardly, raced extremely wide all the way. STARFINCH set the early pace, but quit under his weight after going five-eighths. AVon easily; second and third driving. BEAVEKKILL gradually improved his position, closed up rapidly in the homestretch, passed WARSAW and won with speed in reserve. WARSAW set a good pace and raced VALOR into defeat in the early running, drew out on the stretch turn, but gave way when challenged. VALOR displayed excellent speed for three-quarters and held on gamely in the final drive. HATHOR, away fast, was taken back and saved, but did not respond when called on for a final effort. GIPSEY GEORGE set a good pace under slight restraint and finished gamely, but tired under his weight when challenged in the final drive. ONWA was a forward contender all the way, came wide when entering the homestretch and finished fast. BATTLE ABBEY saved ground on the turns, but could never get up. CHEER LEADER had 110 mishaps. NUTCRACKER raced in close pursuit and made a game effort at the eighth iost. but conld never get to the leader. HERALD ran a game race and outstayed MATINEE IDOL in the final drive. APPROVAL showed speed for a half mile, but tired in the homestretch. PARRISH was never prominent. RAHU ran green.
