THRIFT WEEK NAMED BY GOVERNOR Governor Lowden yesterday issued a proclamation naming the week beginning February 3 Thrift AVeek to assist plans for the big war savings drive The proclamation calls on all citizens to invest to the limit of their ability in thrift and war saving stamps It follows in part We partWe should meet the extraordinary expenditures of our government at this time so far as possible from individual savings This is the oldfashioned way it is the safest way To accomplish this the government has worked out a plan for the sale of war savings stamps and certificates The plan is admirable admirableUnder Under it even the day laborer can become the holder of government securities on terms more fav ¬ orable than the richest in the land Under it there is opportunity to teach even the school children hab ¬ its of thrift such as never existed before
