THREE MORE RACING DAYS * Successful Oaklawn Meeting Coming to a Close Wednesday. ♦ Despite Many Departures Attendance Is Maintained Wonderfully — Favorites Fail. • Hot Springs. Ark.. March 31.— With only three more days left of the Oaklawn Park race meeting, the turf followers are beginning to move in large numbers toward the north and east, but at that the windup will find more people on hand this year than in any previous year. Tlie last of the Bowi ■ delegation left last night and those who plan to go to Kentucky will remain here for the rest of the season, which winds up on Wednesday. Agaiu last week the horses most favored did not win their share of races, and fie public as a result, had rough sledding. The failures of any num: cr of choices can be attributed to the poor class of riding material at Oaklawn Park now, the good riders with few exceptions having gone away. There are two extremes in the jockey line here. Boys with little experience and veteran riders who have mostly seen their best days, the former seeming to get the best results. An instance of this was the riding of jockey Henry Kricksou last week, he winning seven races in six days, nearly one-third of the number of winners he has ridden since he began his turf career two years ago. Jockey E. Sande is almost a sure thing to wind up the meeting at the head of the list of winning riders, as he has now won twenty races. His nearest rival, who is still here, is W. Obert. ami he is seven behind him. Sande was out of the sjiddle a couple of days last wwk. b»t thrw vb-tories in one day gave him a commanding lead. Mrs. R. L. Breslers horses have now won .70S iu nurse money, and she is the chief purse winning owner. J. B. Goodman has taken down ,482 and is in second place. Thirty-seven owners have won *1.000 or more in purse money. Others above the ,000 mark are E. G. Soule. ,941; W. C. Weant. S2.0B8; J. O. Talbott. ,290; W. Cahill. ,112. and C. W. Gasser. ,079. Quite a number of horsemen plan to keep their horses here for some time after the local meeting closes, as express cars are not available right now. and freight cars are not any too plentiful. The track will lie kept in good condition for them. «
