BOXES FOR DERBY DAY ALREADY SOLD Elaborate Preparations Being Completed to Entertain Huge Crowd Expected at Downs May 11. Louisville. Ky., April 20. — Charles F. Grainger and Col. Matt J. Winn, resiiectively president and general manager of the Xew Louisville Jockev Club, siicnt all day Friday at Churchill Downs insiiecting the plant and arranging for the meeting that opens on May 11, on which date the Kentu-.-ky Derby will be run. It was announced that all of the boxes for Derbv Day. both in the club house and grandstand, hail been taken, requests for reservations having come from peonle of prominence all over the countrv. Among the list of lioxliolders for Derby Dav is J. H. Rosseter. Pacific coast steamship man. and owner of a stable now at the Downs, who intends to be on hand with a party of California friends to witness the Derby. The Churchill Downs management is making elaborate preparations to entertain the huge crowd that is sure to turn out Derby Day. A number of pa -triotic exercises for the day are in contemplation, the nature of which will lie announced as soon as Col. Winn and Mr. Grainger have conferred with the commanding officer at Camp Zachary Tavlor. William M.ilholland. who has been in charge of the stable of A. L. Rogers since last summer, has been called to his countrys service and left last night for Brooklyn. X. Y.. for a brief visit to his mother, before reporting to his draft board April 29. Before leaving he notified owner Rogers bv wire and the latter is expected to arrive here shortly from his home at Fort Gibson. Okla.. to engage another trainer. Mulholland was probably the youngest trainer on the local tracks and prior to taking charge of the Rogers stable, was employed by Dick Brooks. He worked for a number of years under his uncle, the veteran Itill Scully, who is reported to be dangerously ill at his home in Brooklyn. -•
