FAMOUS STALLION BEN BRUSH DEAD Noted Kacer and Sire Dies at J. N. Camdens Hart-land Farm at A?e of Twenty-Five Years. Lexington. Ky., June S. ā€” B.en Brush, famous race horse and still great: r as a sire, is dead at Senator J. N. Camdens Hartlaml Farm at the age of twenty-five years. He was foaled in IS93 and sold bv his owner to II. Eugene Leigh and Kd Brown, when a yearling for ?il.2O0. After the late Michael Dwver saw him race as a two-year-old at Sheeps-head Bav in lNSI-" . he bought him for Jjejo.OiM. Among the valuable stakes won by Ben Brush during his career were the Kentucky and Latonia Derbys. Suburban ami Brighton Handicaps, First Un;l Second Specials and many others. At the end of his racing carer Dwy r sold him to James B. Keene. who sent him to the famous Castleton rami here. Be Ix-cumc sire of such noted horses as Broomstick. Delhi. Swoop. Trance. Iidv Amelia. Bcbbles and others, and in l"J0t was rated as premier sire of America. Following the death of Mr. Keene in 1913. Ben Brush was bought by Senator Johnson X. Camden for S10.000 and from that tune until lā€ž- became disabled, continued to send out high-class horses. Had he sired nothing Imt Broomstick, his right to fame in the horse world would have been established for all time.
