GREAT FIELD FOR BROOKLYN DERBY High-Class Racers Named for Big Feature of Aqueduct Opening Day Card. New York. June 22. — The summer meeting of the Queens County Jockey Club will ouen at Aqueduct Monday with the Brooklyn Handicap and the Hudson Stakes as the inaugural attractions. If the track is heavy there will probably be eight starters. Omar Khayyam and Tom MeTaggart mav be added at the last moment. Westy Hogan will be withdrawn if the track is heavy and Omar substituted; Kummer will ride the Yiau representative. Andrew Miller has named thre-e to start and it will depe-nd on track conditions which one will carry his colors, although it is quite certain that old Boamer will lie the selection and Schuttinger will have the mount on the Miller standard bearer. In tin- event that both Hollister and Motor Cop start, jockey Buxton will have his choice of the mounts, from the Macomber stable. John MeTaggart will ride Corn Ttisscd. while Lyke will be Cudgels pilot. George Smith, the probable favorite, will have Kelsay on his back and it is exiiecteel that Bill Knapp will return from Latonia in time to ride Hendrie. . The Hudson Stakes will bring together some of the best two-year-olds in the east. Lacti Brighton. Passing Shower and My Friend being undoubtedly voungsters of more than ordinary speed and of exceedingly high promise. The remainder of the card is in keeping with the stellar features of the opening day program and should furnish some- interesting sport. The first race is a handicap at six and a half furlongs and a fast band of good horses are engaged in it. The second race is a steeplechase and eleven jumpers of merit will entertain the followers of that fasci nuting branch of racing. The Hudson Stakes will lie run as the third race aud the Brooklyn Handicap follows. The fifth race is given over to selling platers and nineteen are carded to start in it. Another big field will contest the last race of the afternoon, when eighteen two-year-olds may face the starter. The presumption is that the track will lie fast Monday if no more rain falls, but this afternoon the weather is threatening.
