. • STABLE ROOM AT EMPIRE CITY TRACK New York. June V. — Secretary Yiclor Schaumburg of the Empire City Jockey Club was busily engaged in distributing application blanks for stable room at the Yonkers track yesterday. As might have been expected, the Yonkers track has nothing like adequate stable room for the horses which are expected to start at that popular meeting. The place always is crowded during racing there, but this year, owing to the suspension of racing in Canada, the congestion bids fair to be much worse than ever. In order to meet this difficulty. Mr. Sehanmburg was impress ing upon all prospective applicants for stable room, whose horses are now quartered on the Ling Island tracks, the importance of reserving just as little space as they can get along with for hors-s actively engaged in the racing up-state. He was urging them to keep as many of their horses as possible in their present quarters on Long Island and only move them up to Yonkers when they were needed to race there. In this way the horses now racing on the metropolitan circuit leave as much room as possible for the influx of outside horses from the west, which will bo sure to come with the opening of the Km-pire City meeting July 13 and which will he es ■aatally marked this summer. As a rule the horse owners talked to on the subject recognized the reus onableuess of Mr. Schaumburgs suggestion and promised to make every possible effort to meet his views, I
