THE TWENTY-EIGHTH RUNNING OF THE GREAT AMERICAN STAKES TAKES PLACE AT AQUEDUCT THIS AFTERNOON Today at Aqueduct the Great American Stakes will be the main attraction of a splendid Saturday program, which includes, besides that great two-year old fixture, the Queens County Handicap and the Winlield Steeplechase. The great American Stakes was established in ISO! as one of the big events of the Brooklyn Jockey Club and was run at Gravcsend up to am! including 1110. With the resumption of the sport in New York state in 1913 after a lapse of two years, the tireut American was run at Belmont Bark, but the following year was transferred to Aqueduct, where it lias been run each year since. The names of many famous racers appears among its winners. For todays running of this event a dozen high -class two-year-olds are named to start and the winner will lie given serious consideration when the question of the juvenile championship is being discussed.
