BIG CROWD EXPECTED SATURDAY SATURDAYThe The decision of the Cincinnati Trophy on Saturday will form a fitting finale to a remarkable meeting It may be expected that one of the biggest crowds of the whole season will gather at the track to see ¬ the running of this notable race The running of the Cincinnati Trophy probably will far towards clearing up the perplexing twoyearold situation and may determine the western championship for which there arc several juveniles whose claims are entitled to consideration without any one of them having an outstanding claim Sennings Park win ¬ ner of the Suring Trial Stakes at Douglas Park Colonel Livingston winner of the Harold Stakes at Latonia Billy Kelly invincible in the early days of the season Uncle White the best of the McLean juveniles shown so far and of which some good judges entertain a high opinion and several others with at least some pretentiun to consideration when tlie championship is being discussed will be included in the Trophy field which is expected to number at least a dozen and perhaps more The dis ¬ tance of the Trophy is threequarters of a mile and will afford more of a test of the stamina of the twoyearolds than any of the stakes which already have been run in the west westIf If there are as many as twelve starters the Trophy this year will bo worth more than S IOO gross and the winners share will be close to 7000 in addition to a silver trophy valued at 1000 which tlie management of the Latonia Jockey Club has provided especially to commemorate the running of the race this year So it may readily be imag ¬ ined how eagerly the owners of the topnotch two yearolds are looking forward to next Saturday The second horse will be rewarded with S700 the third with 30 and the fourth with 200 200Tlie Tlie trophy which Manager Ilaehmeister has pro ¬ vided this year is the most unique in the history of tlie race and is certain to be cherished by the owner fortunate enough to win it It will be placed on exhibition in a local show window for the next few days and is bound to attract much attention Manager Haclimeister has been departing from the coiirential of late in providing suitable trophies for the big races at UouglAs Park and Latonia For instance the idea of presenting a beautiful silken flag fifteen feet long to the owner of the Independence Handicap winner last Thursday lent a patriotic aspect to the Fourth of July program at Latonia Tiio band played the Star Spangled Banner as the flag was unfurled in front of the stewards stand aftir George M Hendries Randier had been returned the winner and the tremendous crowd entered into the spirit of the occasion with much enthusiasm was evinced by the tumultous ap ¬ plause with which the ceremony was followed
