BROODMARE VENERATION I IS DEAD Saratoga X Y August 3 The news has been received here that Veneration II the famous Eng ¬ lish broodmare unquestionably one of the most val ¬ uable in the world had died The produce of this mare for the past live years has averaged in value 20000 Among the great ones which she has pro ¬ duced before the date indicated was the disqualified Derby winner Cragauour and Mi Sanfords famous English stake winner Xassovian Several of the most prominent turfmen in this country have im ¬ ported foals descended from this broodmare and her blood in a pedigree has been considered as almost priceless pricelessAmong Among the fortunate owners of the produce of this grand broodmare John Sauford is the proud possessor of a lilly threeyearold daughter named Homage by Spearmint for which he paid over 20000 W K Coe is the owner of Sledmere a twoyearold lilly by Tracery Veneration II which has started but once and linishcd unplaced in a race at Bclmont Park early in the spring Sledmore is entered in the Spiuaway Stakes of 7500 the Hopeful of 30 000 and several other Stakes at Saratoga
