DRAFT AGE TO BE EXTENDED 18 TO 45 Secretary 15aker yesterday at Washington an ¬ nounced that he would recommend to congress ex tentioti of the draft ages to a minimum of IS years and a maximum of 43 years yearsSenator Senator Chamberlain chairman of the senate mili ¬ tary committee who first announced the proposed new draft ages said the war department bill for extension of the military establishment would be introduced in joth houses of congress Monday MondaySenator Senator Chamberlain said the bill would be taken up by his committee at once with a view to a re ¬ port when congress resumes its regular sessions late this month monthAlthough Although the proposed new draft ages have the approval of both Secretary Maker and Irovost Mar ¬ shal General Crowder Senator Chamberlain said there probably would be some opposition in both houses He vas confident however that the bill would be passed without unusual delay delaySenator Senator Chamberlain explained that under the provisions of the bill men between 18 and 21 years of age would be divided into three classes subject to call by the president in such sequence of years as he prescribed Tho senator added that the calling of men between the ages of 31 and 45 would be made by a similar plan planHe He expressed tin opinion however that the younger men those between 18 and 21 years would be called first aud that it would not be necessary to call those between 31 and 45
