RECORD YEARLING SALE OF THE YEAR TwentySix Head Property of A B Hancock Sell for 64300 ca Average of 2473 By J L Dempsey DempseySaratoga Saratoga N Y August 10 The record sale of yearlings for this season came out of the disposal of A B Hancocks Claiborue and Ellerslie Stud bred youngsters at the FasigTipton mart Friday night Twentysix head sold for a total of 4300 or an average of 2473 Three others listed in the Hancock consignment two Iwlonging to Capt P M Walker and one to II Flippen added li0JO to the sale making a grand total of 80300 for twentynine head headThe The star of the consignment in point of price realized was the black colt imported in utero by the famous English sire Black Jester dam the imported mare by St Denis Little Primrose by Koyal Hampton which went to Commander J K I Koss on his final bid of 14500 Samuel D Kiddle was a strong contender for the youngster but retired after offering 14100 James Mc ¬ Clelland who last year paid 10000 for The AVanderer paid a similar price to secure the chest n ut brother to Embroidery by Celt Network The next highest priced one sold was the slashing looking Celt Ballet Girl colt halfbrother to The Porter which was consigned by Captain P M Wal ¬ ker and was secured by Commander Koss for 0000 0000Last Last nights sale brought to the ring one of the most fashionable assemblages in years and there ap ¬ peared more eagerness to indulge in contention for the best bestAbout About the only newcomer to the ranks of owners through the yearling route was W J Salmon a wealthy New York real estate broker who pur ¬ chased liberally on the advice of Eugene Wayland who will handle the colts and supervise their Induing Commander J K L Koss W II Kar ¬ rick and W Hogan acting for P A Clark were the principal buyers and engaged in frequent bidding tilts tiltsFollowing Following the disposal of the Hancock youngsters the chcutnut mare Coronis by Voter Court Dress and her yearling colt by Greenback by St Frus qnin Evergreen were offered Both were consigned by the estate of Oscar Lewisohu and were sold separately They mare went to P A Ciark on AV Ilogans bid of 4SOO and the colt followed his dam for 550 550The The youngsters from the Glen Helen Adelbert and Herlvrt Htrds were the nepct to be offered but small prices were realized for the thirty head making up this band The grand total for the en ¬ tire sale amounted to 90055 for a grand average of 15S942 15S942Numerous Numerous breeders present who had become some ¬ what disappointed over the outcome of former sales here this year heartened considerably
