np to 31100 over an entered price of 1SOO Startling was the post favorite in the race and his success was in the main due to the good ride he received from Lyke With the same riding and sendoff Bribed Voter would have been an easy winner for he was forced to close an im ¬ mense gap after making a slow start and had to overicm t considerable interference through being wiiiKtiiiitly ridden into pockets 1 T Wortuingtons Viva America which only bad as opponents Memories II and Dorcas in the mil handicap showed a return to her Kcntuck form when she moved into the lead at once and onl played with the others under restraint from Dor ¬ cas a bail third Viva America ran the mile in 139 and could have run in much faster time had her rider so elected She was practically under hard restraint after rounding into the stretch stretchW W F Poison uncorked a good thing in his First Ballot winner in the opening nice in which twenty starters of all degrees and ages over two years old tried conclusions at threequarters First Ballot was lucky at the start and her high flight of speed arried her into a long lead at once which she retained throughout First J5allot had been showing some good workouts but likewise had been return ¬ ing to her stable after indulging in exercise bleed ing from the nostrils Expecting that she would again fall a victim to a hmmorhage was risixmsible for the oralizers lilterality Her connections arc said to have won handsomely by her victory victoryA A rattling good contest resulted from the running of the second race in which some highly regarded condition during the running of this race raceKdward Kdward It McLeans Sandman II was given the all in the third nice but he never figured seriously at any part in the race OBrien getting liiia away from the barrier slowly Heveler at long odds winning from Happy Valley with Boxer in third att BIG FIELD FOR FINAL RACE RACESixteen Sixteen maiden twoyearolds furnished the con test in the final race and Sundial II a French colt arrying the colors of J E Widcner outstayed Madras Gingham and Rodgcrs The Whitney colt Cirrus might have been a troublesome contender but for getting awav slightly tangled up at the start and having to work his way through the big field He finished gamely and will probably reverse todays decision with the winner in their nest meeting meetingAs As a result of Dancing Carnivals sudden improve ¬ ment the stewards last night ordered the suspension of jockey McGraw and further entries of Thomas McElroy the owner not to be accepted Further consideration of the
